Insomnia ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use our mobile application, how we use it, and the choices you have over your data.
We designed Insomnia with privacy at its core. Most features work entirely on your device — your sleep data, journal entries, and personal preferences never leave your phone unless you explicitly choose to share them.
This data is stored locally on your device using an encrypted SQLite database. It is not transmitted to our servers.
When you use AI-powered features such as personalized sleep advice, the processing happens entirely on your device using a local Gemma model. We do not transmit your data to external AI services.
AI-generated recommendations and saved memories are stored locally on your device and are not shared with any third party.
We use Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash reports and anonymous usage analytics. This data includes:

Insomnia may display ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and use data to deliver personalized advertising, including:

We do not otherwise share, sell, or transfer your personal data to any other third parties unless required by law.
Most of your data is stored locally on your device in an encrypted SQLite database. Your sleep sessions, journal entries, profile data, and preferences never leave your device unless you explicitly share them.
For data that is transmitted (crash reports, analytics, ads), we rely on industry-standard TLS encryption in transit. We regularly review our security practices and limit data collection to the minimum necessary for each feature.
If you uninstall the app, all locally stored data is deleted. To delete your data before uninstalling, go to Settings > Privacy > Clear All Data within the app.
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@insomnia.app. We will respond within 30 days.
For advertising data managed by Google, you can use the Google Play data deletion requirements for compliant handling.
Insomnia is not intended for use by children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected data from a child, please contact us at privacy@insomnia.app and we will promptly delete it.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, for significant changes, notify you through the app.
Continued use of the app after any change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
